Late Shri Somabhai Bhagat founded the brand Bhagat in the year 1946 when he had left his family business without taking a penny. That’s when he started this new journey as a small-time trader in agro commodities. Soon thereafter he stumbled upon the idea of Dhanadal. From a trader, he went on to become a manufacturer of Dhanadal and later established the brand Bhagat.
Dhanadal was discovered by our founder, Late Shri Somabhai Bhagat. Once when he was sitting beside a rack of Dhania (Coriander seeds) bags, he took a few pieces in his hand and started opening the coriander seeds. It was then that he discovered the inner seed of coriander. He took these seeds home and started experimenting with it. As these seeds were soft in nature, he thought of roasting them to make them crunchy. Then he added some salt to it for taste. So that’s how Dhanadal was discovered. While he was happy with the discovery, making it at a large scale and developing a taste for this new product amongst the masses was a very different challenge.
Dhanadal as a product was not known to the world before 1946. The joy of munching this crispy, salty grain was given to the world by the keen eye and the business acumen of Shri Somabhai Bhagat, who pioneered a business out of nothing but a small grain of an idea.
